Avi Ben-Zeev is an American gay transgender man, high school failure, and Yale PhD. As a psychology professor and Birkbeck, University of London’s Creative Writing MFA graduate, he’s compelled by emotional truth. Avi’s fiction has won the 2024 London Independent Short Story Prize in Flash Fiction and was shortlisted and highly commended for the 2023 Oxford Flash Fiction Prize. His story Angel won the UK’s first transgender writing competition, and his memoir Trans Bear Diaries: Calling My Deadname Home will be released by Muswell Press on 14 November 2024. Marcella Marx is a Brazilian-born writer of German, Italian, and Portuguese descent. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of London, where she studied under the supervision of the acclaimed writer Dame Marina Warner. In 2022, she was longlisted for the Berlin Writing Prize. In 2024, she was shortlisted for the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival. She has been teaching creative writing workshops in São Paulo since 2018. Her first novel, The Past is Another Country is currently being edited.
